Immediate Assistance

Emergency Services: If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call Triple Zero (000) for emergency assistance

NSW Mental Health Line: For 24/7 mental health support and referrals, contact 1800 011 511. This free service is staffed by trained professionals offering advice, assessments, and connections to appropriate care.

National Helplines

Lifeline: Provides 24-hour crisis counselling and suicide prevention services. Call 13 11 14, text 0477 13 11 14, or chat online at Lifeline. ​

Beyond Blue: Offers support for depression, anxiety, and suicide prevention. Reach them at 1300 22 4636 or visit Beyond Blue for online chat services. ​

Suicide Call Back Service: Provides free counselling for those affected by suicidal thoughts. Call 1300 659 467 or access online and video counselling at Suicide Call Back Service. ​

Support Services

Jenny's Place: Provides assistance to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, including emergency shelter and transitional accommodation.​

Nova for Women and Children: Offers support to women who are homeless or in crisis due to domestic or family violence, helping them secure safe accommodation.

​

Samaritans: Provides short-term and transitional accommodation, outreach casework, and early intervention for young people in Newcastle, Maitland, and the Hunter regions

​

Soul Hub: Serves hot meals free of charge to highly disadvantaged individuals in the Newcastle region.

​

Survivors R Us: Provides essential support to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, including affordable food, counselling services, and emergency relief items.
